Sitting in last spot, the Wanderers have issued a statement on Tuesday to announce Stajcic and assistant coach Nahuel Arrarte had been shown the door.

Former Newcastle Jets mentor Gary van Egmond is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Stajcic.

The club statement was very brief and to the point.

“Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed that the club has parted ways with Isuzu UTE A-League head coach Alen Stajcic and assistant coach Nahuel Arrarte effective immediately.

“The club would like to thank Alen and Nahuel for their efforts across the club and wish them both success in the future.

Angus Thurgate passes for Wanderers.

“The Wanderers will provide a coaching update shortly.”

Stajcic, 52, had been at the club since 2024 and with only three wins and 10 goals from 13 matches this season, he has paid the price for the team’s dismal performances.

He has previously been at the helm of Central Coast and Perth after a lengthy stint as Matildas coach.
